    A 45 - 60 minute motivational program for educators. Discover how a special geometry project transformed an urban middle school in Cleveland, Ohio and enjoy a taste of "life, math, and good-tasting barbecue" during this unique, visual program based on the book All of the Above, a 2007 ALA Notable selection. Shelley is a former classroom teacher who holds a M.Ed. from John Carroll University and has been recognized as a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar teacher.

  • A Journey on the Underground Railroad
    A 45-minute program featuring Shelley's work and research into Underground Railroad history. Participants will have the chance to see Underground Railroad primary sources like letters and runaway reward notices -- and find out how those sources were turned into stories in Trouble Don't Last.

  • Primary Sources: Finding the Stories in History
    Learn how to use primary sources such as letters, photographs, newspapers and other historical materials in creative ways with your students. This program can be offered in two hours or extended to a full day program, featuring writing assignments and activities for the classroom.

  • Bring Math to Life!
    A workshop for teachers of all subject areas. The workshop features Shelley's book, All of the Above, and provides unique activities integrating math, language arts, history and the visual arts. This program can be offered in a two or four hour block.

  • Extreme Writing Makeover: The Teachers' Edition
    Can't get your students to revise? Tired of listening to the "moans and groans" about rough drafts? Discover new techniques and ways of encouraging revision. Get samples of real revisions to take back to your classrooms. This is a two-hour program for upper elementary and middle school teachers which includes discussion time.
